Alison Restaurant

The nice thing about hosting a party or a conference in a restaurant is that someone else is doing the work, and we’re very happy to do it.

It’s hard to believe that the summer has ended and the holidays are around the corner. At this time of year many of you are planning functions and festivities for the season, as well as structuring conference and meeting schedules for next year. Should you be planning future events, please take a look at our information about booking events at Alison Restaurant, or for catering by Alison Events, based on the questions asked us most frequently. We hope that you will find this information helpful and look forward to working with you in the coming months.

Description:

Alison Restaurant has been repeatedly described as romantic, elegant, understated, and handsome. The walls are a creamy white with blue and white drapery on the windows. Tables are set simply with votive candles, silver place settings atop white linens. Our two dining rooms offer both casual yet chic atmospheres.

The Sunroom boasts long banquettes, which create open and interactive dining spaces. It is the perfect private event room for up to 45 persons. We can make large square or rectangular tables to accommodate different size parties. The Main Room is open to our lively bar area and its larger round tables are ideal for a private dinner. The copper top bar and bar area tables are a comfortable setting for drinks and dining with clients or associates.

For presentations, in either room, we can set up projectors and screens.

Availability:

Alison Restaurant is open 7 days a week in season and Tuesday through Sunday off-season. The restaurant is available any time for private functions. Generally we need 4 weeks notice to book the entire restaurant, and 2 weeks notice to book either The Sunroom or The Main Room.

Size & Number:

The restaurant can accommodate up to 120 persons for a seated dinner, and up to 175 persons for cocktails. Tables can accommodate from 6 - 30 when arranged for private functions. As the restaurant is divided into two rooms The Sunroom can be made totally private with seating available for up to 50 persons. The Main Room can accommodate up to 70. The bar is in the front room, and if a small band is hired they play in the bar area. For a large reception we can tent the driveway in the back and create another space to accommodate 80 – 100 persons.

Off Premise:

In addition to catering, Alison Events offers full service Wedding and Event planning. We can help you find a location, arrange your rentals, service staff, flowers, accommodations, transportation, just about anything you need in addition to the food. We do events for 2 – 1000.

Menu:

Food:

Executive Chef, Robert Gurvich has returned to us and has created a seasonal menu utilizing the freshest local ingredients, influenced by the cuisines of regional France and his New Orleans roots. For events we can offer almost anything on our menus or create items specific to a theme or the desires of our clients. We prefer to speak with our clients about the event before proposing a menu. The more information we have (as to who the event is for, why it is taking place, number, age range, special dietary requirements) the better we can help the client to have a successful event. If time or location does not permit a meeting we will be happy to take the information on the phone or communicate by email. After discussing the event we send a proposed contract for review. If accepted, a deposit is returned to us and the party is booked. We always try to accommodate changes, though we recommend making them as early as possible.

Wine:

One of the great pleasures of doing parties is helping to select wines that will enhance the menu. The wine list at Alison Restaurant includes quite a few unknown, relatively inexpensive, yet wonderful wines in addition to well known more expensive choices. We can offer a 10% price break off our list price with a guaranteed purchase of cases. Our house wines are always available. If there is a wine that the guest would like that is not on our list, we will do our best to find it.

Liquor:

We have a full bar available and can either serve an "open bar" through the evening, or serve all the cocktail "a la carte", or a combination of the two. An open bar for the evening can be expensive, so do think if your guests are “drinkers”, if not a one-hour open bar at the beginning usually suffices, and then everyone switches to wine. For very special events we can purchase magnums of Wine or Champagne as long as we have 2 weeks notice. Please see below for information about cost.

Options:

Flowers:

We have several local florists we work with, or we can do simple arrangements ourselves.

Invitations:

We can print and mail your invitations on simple stock for you as long as we are supplied with copy 6 weeks in advance and a mailing list 5 weeks in advance.

Music:

We are happy to arrange for a two or three-piece jazz band, or string quartet. We have to careful about loud rock & roll. We can also hook up to your IPOD!

Placecards:

We do most of our printing in house, and can print place cards. Four days prior to the event we need a list of names, and a seating chart if one is being used. Last minute changes can be made easily, as long as we have the bulk of the list in time.

Printed Menus:

We will print a special menu for the guest on our stationary, or special note cards. On this menu we can also print any message, or greeting requested, as long as we have four days notice.

Valet Parking:

Self-parking on the street is available at night as well as in an unattended lot behind the restaurant. We do suggest a valet if the majority of the clients guests will be driving as we cannot accept responsibility for vehicle safety.

Price:

The sample prices below for lunch and dinner below include three courses, coffee or tea, and soda. The cost depends on the menu chosen, the time of the party, the amount of people, the night of the week and can vary greatly. We will do our best to design a menu with full respect of the given budget. We can accommodate as many courses as the guest wishes. Tax is an additional 8.62%, and gratuity is a minimum of 18%. We require a deposit at the time of booking, and payment in full on the night of the event unless special arrangements have been made ahead of time. We do prefer to be paid by check, or cash, however all major credit cards are accepted.

Booking Suggestions:

Please try to have as much information on hand as possible when inquiring about the event so that we may be of the most help.

  • How many?
  • Date?
  • Time?
  • The purpose of the function?
  • The entire restaurant or private room?
  • Special Options?

Menu Suggestions:

Set or Choice menus are available. We find that a set first course helps move the evening along, and the less the waiters have to interfere and take food orders our guests “own’ the evening. The kitchen is also better able to produce the food more expediently. Special dietary needs can be accommodated as long as we know four days in advance. If a choice menu is desired we can keep the cost of your party down if we know ahead of time (if possible) approximately how many orders of each item is needed. However, this is your event and we are happy to accommodate you in any way possible.

We look forward to working with you,

Our best,

Alison & Jessica
